The British School - Al Khubairat
The British School Al-Khubairat has 1,300 students aged 3-18 and caters
for pupils up to Year 13.
The British School Al-Khubairat's over-riding aim is to provide
education for English speaking children 'in accordance with the
best teaching practices, in order to enable children to qualify
for normal subsequent education in the United Kingdom within their
own age groups, without disadvantage'. However, as the British School
for Abu Dhabi, the school also has a number of other important aims
and objectives. These include the recognition of the English National
Curriculum, education within an intemational community, suitably
sized classes and a broad curriculum offering richness and variety.
In order to maintain and enhance the British School Al-Khubairats
high standards, all classes are taught by fully qualified British
trained and experienced teachers and the school is inspected on
a three yearly cycle.
All the buildings at the British School Al-Khubairat are fully
air-conditioned, light and spacious. The Primary department comprises
34 classrooms with additional central activity areas. There is a
modern electronic library, computer suite, two assembly/gymnasium
halls, two music rooms, specialists room for French, Arabic and
Special Education Needs. A 25-metre swimming pool, grassed sports
pitch and three playground areas provide outdoor facilities that
complement the academic resources. The Secondary Department caters
for students up to and including Sixth Form. Accommodation includes
a sports hall, gymnasium, eight laboratories, three design technology
workshops, four ICT suites, three art rooms, a range of music rooms,
a 330-seat theatre, a library, Sixth Form facilities and a range
of academic classrooms.
The British School Al-Khubairat is self-supporting, financed by
fees paid by parents for the education of their children. It operates
as a 'not for profit' concern, the funds being used only for the
schools purposes.
