The Methodist Ladies' College
Methodist Ladies' College in Kew, Melbourne, is one of Australia's
most respected and innovative schools. In 2002, the College was selected
as 'School of the Year' in 'The Australian' newspaper's School of
the Year competition. MLC was the first school in the world to introduce

of technology and education.

Student care is a top priority at Methodist Ladies' College and
the four schools structure means that every student is known, cared
for and valued. MLC has one of the strongest special education support
networks in Australia to help every student achieve her personal
best. Care begins with a Home Group teacher, and extends to level
co-ordinators, student counsellors, careers counsellors, chaplains,
deafness integration aides, English Language Support (ESL) teachers,
subject and co-curricular teachers. As an open entry school, MLC
is proud of its commitment to student care, growth and development.
Methodist Ladies' College offers excellent facilities and one of
the broadest curricula in Australia. In Years 11 and 12, students
choose between three distinct learning pathways - the International
Baccalaureate (IB), VCE and Vocational Education and Training (VET)
to create a course which matches their interests and career goals.
Over 50 different subjects are offered from science, maths, humanities,
languages (French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Auslan) arts, music,
drama and technology to VET subjects like hospitality, business,
multi-media, information technology and community recreation.
Methodist Ladies' College also offers an enormous range of extra
activities with clubs such as drama, chess, alpha omega and Ecocare,
and outstanding opportunities for music tuition, bands, orchestras,
choirs and performances.
Results in 2003 were outstanding: almost 50% of students achieved
an 'enter' over 90 and two IB students achieved perfect 45 point
diplomas. Thirty one percent of students achieved an 'enter' over
95.

winning library and resource centre; the Compass Centre for talented
