New Horizon Junior and High School provides the children of the Egyptian
and multi-national community in Cairo with a spacious educational
facility which complies with the international code of standards for
educational buildings. The school is located in Zahraa Al Maadi, a
southern district of Cairo. Facing the school premises are seven acres
assigned as a green area.
The educational programme is tutored in the English Language from
Kindergarten through Secondary. Junior and Senior students receive
French as a second foreign language. All language sessions are tutored
by qualified teachers who are native speakers of the language.
New Horizon School follows a curriculum which is a combination
of the programme as supplied by the Ministry of Education in Egypt,
alongside with supplementary subjects tutored on an international
scale which are essential for developing students' intellectual
and cultural skills. All students are exposed to art, music, sports
and computer sessions. The school encourages the students to participate
in mini-clubs with offerings ranging from brasswork, puppet making,
computers and map models to dance, music and drama. Excursions are
also an integral part of New Horizon general knowledge programme.
New Horizon students have use of the schools library for
research as well as recreational reading. The science curriculum
allows students to make use of the science laboratory to perform
various experiments as part of their hands on learning. The computer
lab consists of 15 Pentium computers allowing the students exposure
to computer technology. There is also maintain a modern language
lab which is used by both English and French classes.
New Horizon is open five days a week from 08:30 to 15:00 and hosts
students of all nationalities from Kindergarten level one through
the final Secondary years with a total capacity of 780 students.
The teacher/student ratio is 1:11.
