The International School of Bucharest was founded in 1996 to serve
the Romanian and international communities in Romania
The school, recognized by the Romanian Ministry of Education, registered
by the Cambridge University, UCLES as an exam center for IGCSE and
'A' GCE, is an independent English medium, multinational day school.
It provides a British style of education for children aged 3½
years to 18 years.
Children in the Primary School and up to year 8, aged 14, follow
the English National Curriculum, which is adapted to meet the needs
of the international student body. Students in Year 9 and 10 follow
the IGCSE, followed by the International 'A' level certificates
in Years 11 and 12. Classes throughout the school are small which
allows for carefully planned individual programmes of study where
needed.
All instruction is in English with extensive support for children
for whom English is not their first language. Junior and Secondary
children who are fluent in English also study French, Romanian and
Turkish. In addition Romanian native speakers are prepared for Romanian
examinations as required by the Romanian Ministry of Education.
The school is located at two sites; Nursery and Primary Schools
are situated in one campus and Senior school situated in another.
Attached primary school is regarded Pre--Nursery and Nursery classes,
which provide English style kindergarten.
ISB has self-contained classrooms for computer studies, a cyber-zone
room, physics, chemistry and biology labs, library, video, art,
music, presentation room and PE rooms, and indoor and outdoor facilities.
The school provides with facilities such as breakfast before classes
start, lunch and transportation.
