Le Bocage International School
The school is situated on the green slopes of Mount Ory and has grown rapidly in response to the needs of the local and a foreign population, which covers about 25 nationalities The school's original mission statement was revised in 2002: 'Le Bocage International School is committed to providing, in English, a high quality international secondary education that challenges students to realise their full potential in a caring and supportive environment' Currently there are thirty-eight teaching rooms including three experimental science laboratories, three computer rooms, two art studios, a home economics laboratory, a library and administrative offices. Due to the pleasant climate, the sports programme is often conducted outdoors on a large playing field, three hard court general surfaces and two small grass-p1aying areas. A multi-purpose auditorium was completed in May 2001. This provides adequate space for indoor sports, drama activities, assemblies and for special community events, which occur throughout the year Thc curriculum at LBIS is international and embodies the philosophy of the school. Students in the middle school (Forms 1, 2 and 3) study a wide variety of academic and practical subjects which include: English, mathematics, French, Spanish, history, geography integrated science, biology, chemistry, health, physics, drama, music, home economics, commercial studies, information technology, art, design and technology, and physical education. There is also Life-Skills programme. IGCSE is offered to all students in Forms 4 and 5 whilst students in Forms 6 and 7 study the IB Diploma programme. Extra-curricular activities are a compulsory and important part of the overall educational programme. LBIS offers limited special educational needs provision. Entrance to the school is by examination, consideration of past school reports and, if necessary, an interview. A prospectus is available upon request. |
