Established in 2007, and located in the heart of Seoul, Asia Pacific International School (APIS) strives to provide a truly international education, specially designed to help students meet the challenges of this new era of globalization. APIS is a school for both foreign students and Korean children who meet the established standards of the Korean ministry of Education.
At APIS, in additon to an American academic curriculum, there is also an added emphasis on the study of East Asian culture and language. The main focus is on the core subjects such as English, Social Studies, Math, and Science; but, in addition, students study at least two East languages (Chinese, Japanese, or Korean). Performing arts, such as music, drama, and choir are also emphasized.
The majority of the teachers at APIS are Americans and Canadians, a number of whom are graduates of top schools such as Yale and Dartmouth. All the teachers at APIS are experienced and dedicated educators.
The APIS classrooms and administrative offices are housed in the main academic building (60+ classrooms and offices) and the campus also includes a main auditorium, children's playground, athletic field, outdoor amphitheater, and gymnasium. Wireless internet access is available throughout the whole main academic building, the classrooms are equipped with Smart Boards, and students make use of the latest computer technology everyday.
The school year begins in late August and ends in June. There are 180 school days in a year and the students attend classes from 8am to 3pm. There are also a variety of extra-curricular activities and ESL classes (if required) offered after class.
With its foundation deeply rooted in the Christian faith, APIS strives to provide a truly loving and caring educational environment where students of Christian faith and students from all religious and cultural backgrounds can learn together. APIS aims to educate students to become truly "global citizens" with the skills necessary to compete in today's highly integrated world.
