The British International School Budapest is a private, co-educational
day school providing instruction in English for pupils aged 3-18.
As an accredited IB World School students over 16 are offered the
International Baccalaureate programme. The school offers an academic
and pastoral programme, reflecting the best practices of British
and international education. BISB is part of the Nord Anglia Education
Group, a British education company which owns and manages schools
in Europe and Asia. The quality of education in the schools is monitored
by experienced Education Officers who make regular visits to the
schools from the group's Head Office in England.
The school welcomes children of all nationalities, races and creeds.
In the Primary School non-English speaking children are admitted
up to Year 2. Children entering Year 3 must demonstrate a basic
level of English proficiency. Class size is limited to 22, after
that a waiting list operates. For Years 7-9 all pupils are assessed
to ascertain the level of ability, and a reasonable level of English
proficiency is required. Classes are limited to 20 pupils. For entry
to Years 10-13 (IB and GCSE) a good level of English proficiency
is required, along with evidence of academic experience and ability
to complete these demanding programmes. Discussion has to take place
to ensure the school can provide appropriate subject choices. Classes
are limited to 20 pupils and after this a waiting list operates.
