Vancouver International School (VIS) is a new Nursery to Grade 6 elementary school, officially opening its doors on September 7th, 2005. It will offer a genuine international curriculum, introducing and combining the best elements and practices of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years programme and the curriculum of British Columbia. Vancouver International School (VIS) is intending to embark on the IB authorisation process, according to and following IB guidelines and is being created to provide the highest quality of education for all of its students. An outstanding Staff, many with international schools experience, has been recruited and they will implement a year round programme, including all core curricula subjects, as well as Spanish, PE, Dance, Drama, Art, Music and IT. A dedicated laptop programme for Grades 4-6 and computers at all grade levels will operate within a school-wide wireless network ensuring the highest provision of communications and technology for all students. This challenging year round and well balanced curriculum is designed to guide each student to attain the peak of his or her social and academic potential. Under the guidance of an outstanding, enthusiastic and dedicated staff, we will develop an atmosphere of multi-cultural understanding, mutual respect, honesty and integrity in a welcoming, family-oriented community school environment.
