QSI International School of Bratislava (QSIB), a non-profit school,
offers English language instruction for boys and girls age 2 to 19.
The QSI International School of Bratislava Educational Plan includes
an Early Childhood (pre-school) Program, Elementary School, Middle
School, and High School.
Approximately 70% of the students are from expatriate families
and 30% are from Slovak families engaged in diplomacy or business.
QSI International School of Bratislava is fully accredited in the
United States by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
and in the Slovak Republic by the Ministry of Education. The school's
primary purpose is to provide expatriate children with sound instructional
programs that enable them to attend colleges and universities in
the US and throughout the world. High School students earn one of
several diplomas: Academic Diploma with Honors, Academic Diploma,
Practical Diploma, IB Diploma and Slovak Maturita. The academic
program utilizes individual and group instruction to master specific
skills and knowledge. The curriculum is written on all levels. The
educational philosophy is based on the belief that everyone can
succeed in learning, and it is the responsibility of the school
to find the means, encourage, and guide students in the learning
process. At QSI International School of Bratislava, Elementary students
are placed in instructional groups based on their age. The program
is modified for advanced skills in reading and mathematics. There
is an Intensive English Program and assistance for students with
mild learning difficulties. The curriculum includes English, mathematics,
science, social studies, computer studies, cultural studies, art,
music, dance/movement, swimming, and physical education. There are
Elementary specialists in the areas of music, art, drama, sports,
and Library. There is an extensive program of extracurricular sports
and activities. Foreign language and Native language instruction
are provided in French, German, and Slovak. Dutch is taught as a
native language.
Computer use is integrated into the curriculum high school students
can take Advanced Placement courses, and they can enhance the curriculum
through Distance Learning courses from accredited schools and universities.
Through cultural programs, students learn about the rich culture
and history of Slovakia. Average class size is 12 students. Most
teachers, except foreign language teachers, are native English speakers.
The school is operated by Quality Schools International (QSI) a
non-profit organization with 23 schools in the Arabian Peninsula,
Central Europe, and the Far East.
