The International School Ho Chi Minh City is non-denominational,
international day school for expatriate and Vietnamese children
living in Ho Chi Minh City.
The International School Ho Chi Minh City is situated on two campuses:
The Junior Campus (Pre-school-Grade 1) and the An Phu Campus (Pre-school-Grade
12)
The curriculum at International School Ho Chi Minh City is international
in focus and is authorized for the International Baccalaureate Primary
Years Programme (Pre-school-Grade 5), International Baccalaureate
Middle Years Programme (Grades 6-10) and the IGCSE is offered in
Grades 9 and 10 and the IB Diploma in Grades 11-12. Specialist teaching
of art, drama, music, PE and Vietnamese language are a feature of
the school at all levels. An EAL programme is available from Grade
2 to Grade 12.
All textbooks are supplied and stationery is supplied from Pre-school
to Grade 5. The school has a uniform which is worn from Pre-school
to Grade 10.
The student population comprises of 36 nationalities, with Korean,
Vietnamese, USA, Japanese, Australia and UK the major groups (accounting
for two thirds of the student body). Admission policy is non-selective.
The teaching staff are predominantly British, Australian and North
American. 15 nationalities are represented and all are fully qualified
(36% hold Masters Degrees).
An expatriate Nurse and a school Counsellor operate at the An Phu
Campus and a Doctor at the Junior Campus.
The International School Ho Chi Minh City year is August to June,
split into two semesters. The school day is 7:45 14:45. An
Activities Programme of languages, sports, performing arts, Model
United Nations, student government and crafts takes place after
school and on Saturday mornings.
Campus facilities include four science labs, three computer labs,
specialist areas for music, art, drama and PE. The An Phu Library
has over 20,000 books and internet access. The Junior Campus has
3,000 books and classroom resources. Sports facilities include a
25-metre swimming pool, one astro turf multi-purpose court, one
multi purpose hard court and one full size multi purpose playing
field. Classrooms are purpose built to be light, spacious and air-conditioned.
Field trips, camps and excursions to interesting destinations throughout
Vietnam are on offer for all grade levels.
