Machabeng College/International School of Lesotho
Machabeng College is a grant-aided day and boarding school serving the expatriate and local communities of Maseru and Lesotho. The school is controlled by a board of governors representing the parents, the community and the education authority of the country. The Machabeng College/International School of Lesotho provides an academic curriculum leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education and the International Baccalaureate. The Machabeng College/International School of Lesotho has a qualified all-graduate staff with an average of ten years experience. Staff turnover is low with an average stay of about four years. There is a strong activities programme, and all senior students are involved in weekly community service. A small art gallery and folk museum has been constructed in the school grounds. There is a library of approximately 24,000 volumes under the supervision of a full-time qualified librarian. The sports facilities consist of a small all-weather playing surface, and a two-hectare sports field. The swimming pool of the local sports club is used seasonally by the school. The Machabeng College/International School of Lesotho accepts all students on whose behalf fees are paid by a diplomatic mission, donor agency, etc, but applicants are tested for placement before admission.
