| The Macarthur Anglican School
Macarthur Anglican School serves Sydney's rapidly developing south-west
region, about one hour's travel from the city centre. The Senior School
is located on a picturesque rural campus of 110 acres at Cobbitty,
while the Junior School is located temporarily on a campus of five
acres in nearby Narellan. The school caters for children from Pre-Kindergarten
(four years old) to Year 12 (about 18 years old).
Within the context of a caring Christian environment, Macarthur
Anglican School offers an education of high quality, where students
are encouraged to pursue excellence in all that they do. There is
an emphasis on academic achievement to qualify for entry into university.
Year 10 students sit for International General Certificate of Secondary
Education (IGCSE) subjects set by Cambridge University. In Year
12, students sit for the New South Wales Higher School Certificate,
a matriculation examination for university entry. Apart from the academic standards for which the Macarthur Anglican
School is recognized, it is also known for the quality of its Christian
Education programmes and pastoral care. The school guides its students
so that they develop into mature, responsible and respectful young
adults, in whom parents may take pride. The Macarthur Anglican School is also well regarded in the community
for the many interesting opportunities it provides for students.
They may learn an instrument from a visiting teacher and participate
in one of the schools bands or musical ensembles. There are
opportunities to participate in plays, musicals and dramatic presentations.
Musical performance is of such a standard that the schools
band and choir have toured overseas, performing in Asia, Europe
and Canada. Emphasis is given to teaching and learning with the aid of computer
technology. The latest desktop and laptop computers are available
for students to use in computer laboratories and classrooms, with
the focus on using them as tools for creative teaching and learning. Sporting opportunities at Macarthur Anglican School are plentiful.
