Escuela Panamericana was founded in 1977 as a private co-educational
school offering a bilingual and bicultural education to both international
and Salvadorian students .
The school is located within a five-acre pine forest on a mountain
slope on the outskirts and overlooking the capital city, San Salvador.
The school has two basket ball/volleyball courts, a soccer-running
field and three large playground areas. Facilities include a large
library, computer center, science laboratory, cafeteria and thirty-two
classrooms .
The school is accredited by the Salvadorian Ministry of Education
and in the United States by the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools .
The curriculum includes English and Spanish language development,
mathematics and science with an emphasis on rational thinking skills
and laboratory practice, and a bicultural orientation to social
studies. Additional classes are also provided in computer literacy,
music, art and physical education .
The school year is from August to June with two semesters each
of eighteen weeks. Classes are from 07:15-15:45 for EC6 through
12th grade. EC 3, EC 4 and EC 5 hours are 07:15-11:00. The school
offers an after-school sports program which includes basketball,
volley ball, tennis, soccer, track and karate. In addition to the
curriculum oriented music classes, there are after-school string
and vocal musical groups .
Entrance exams are administered for placement and admissions purposes.
Classes are limited to 24 students per grade.
