Founded in 1991, Rain Forest International School provides an international secondary education permeated with a Christian worldview using English as the medium of instruction. The school provides for children of partner organizations and children whose parents serve with mission agencies or are part of the greater expatriate and national communities in west central Sub-Saharan Africa.

The school adopts and adapts syllabuses from the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate in England which lead to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education in eight subjects. The school awards a transcript based on credits which will be acceptable in North America.

The school year runs from mid August to early June, Monday through Friday. The school has choir, drama, photography and computer applications classes. Other activities include student council, running club, intramurals and interscholastic sports in soccer, basketball and volleyball. There are annual Christmas and second-semester programs, either dramatic or musical. The facilities include eight classrooms, two science labs, a computer lab, living skills/art room, library, student center, teachers' preparation area and administrative offices. Athletic facilities include a basketball/volleyball court and a small soccer field.

Admissions requirements include an adequate proficiency in English to receive instruction and write papers in that language, intellectual capacities such that the school's resources are adequate to meet educational needs, a previous educational experience equivalent to Grade 6 in the United States or Year 7 in Great Britain, and the ability to meet financial obligations. Applications are made through the administrative offices of the school.
