Silk Road International School (SRIS) is a private, non-profit institution,
governed a Board of Directors appointed by Sebat Educational Institutions.
The school is financed by Sebat and by its own school fees. The school
aims to develop a quality educational program with a view to supporting
the development of Kyrgyzstan. SRIS offers primary and secondary education
to both the children of international community and the children of
local citizens. The lessons are conducted entirely in English.
The Silk Road International School (SRIS) currently teaches K9.
SRIS has based its curriculum on the national curriculum of England.
The curriculum, which consists of 10 core foundation subjects, strictly
adheres to the English Curriculum in English, mathematics, science
and information technology, but has been adapted to meet local needs
in history, geography, art, music and physical education. This curriculum
is enriched by a mixture of the national curriculum of Kyrgyzstan
and an international curriculum.
The Silk Road International School (SRIS) school day runs from
09:00 to 16:00. There are seven 45 minute periods with a ten minute
break between them and 40-minute lunch break. The school provides
lunch prepared according to the required daily calorie intake.
Silk Road International School (SRIS) transportation service is
available to all students upon request. School facilities include
a library, multi-media room, music lounge and advisory room. School
grounds, buildings, technical installations, basic furnishings and
supporting equipment, such as TV, videos are supplied and maintained
within the safety regulations.
There are 109 students enrolled in grades from Primary Beginners
through Grade 9. The nationalities of students are: Kyrgyz , Russian
, Turkish, Korean, Kazakh, American, Canadian, Pakistani, Uigur,
German and Ukrainian. The average class size is 10. Students must
possess English competency to be enrolled in school. There is a
compulsory one- year English competency restriction for Primary
Beginners and Grade 1.
The teaching of French, Kyrgyz , German, Russian, Turkish is introduced
starting from Grade 2. ESL classes are taught using proven techniques.
Teaching methods ensure that students find it quite easy to absorb
the lesson and practice language on daily basis.
