in the age range 3-14 years. At present 38% of the students come from
the UK; with 29 other countries being represented on the school roll.
The average class size is 19. The school is a non-profit making member
of the Foreign Schools' Section of the Saudi Ministry of Education.
British International School of Al Khobar is currently working towards
joint CIS/NEASC Accreditation.
Situated in a quiet, residential part of the coastal town of Al
Khobar, British International School of Al Khobar offers a safe
and stimulating environment for its students. The buildings contain
specialist rooms and laboratories for art and design, pottery, design
and technology, food technology, information and communications
technology, languages and science, as well as a library and two
multi-purpose halls. The school is fully computer-networked. A crèche
provides facilities for staff children under the age of three.
The British International School of Al Khobar operates a typical
British-style year, starting in early September and finishing at
the end of June, with the year divided into three terms. The working
week runs from Saturday to Wednesday, with classes starting at 07:25
and closing at 13:15. Extra-curricular activities run each work-day
afternoon, offering a wide range of activities. Arabic is taught
after school each day as an optional subject.
The British International School of Al Khobar administers the Common
Entrance examination and other special examinations as required.
Waitlists can occur, particularly at lower levels, so that early
application is recommended. Although the school operates a mixed-ability
intake policy, each potential student takes part in an entrance
assessment, essentially to check English language ability.
