Established for almost 40 years, Jeddah Prep & Grammar School
(The International British/Dutch School) is the recognized traditional
British school of the region. Adhering to the UK National curriculum,
JPGS provides education for over 500 children in the age group of
two years up to 18 (up to A-Level). The average class size is 17 and
the pupil/teacher ratio is 11:1.
There is an excellent pastoral programme within the Jeddah Prep
& Grammar School, (The International British/Dutch School) and
to get to know pupils and make them feel secure. Examination results
at IGCSE and A-Level place the school within the top 1% worldwide.
The Jeddah Prep & Grammar School, (The International British/Dutch
School) is accredited by the UK Independent Schools Joint Council
and the Headmaster is an elected member of IAPS. It is also an examination
centre for both Edexcel (London) and UCLES (Cambridge).
The Jeddah Prep & Grammar School, (The International British/Dutch
School) moved to the Al-Naeem district of Jeddah in September 1998.
The new campus provides the school with excellent modern facilities
and the opportunity of housing the new Grammar School.
Originally established by the British and Dutch Embassies in conjunction
with the Saudi British Bank and Saudi Dutch Bank, the school now
accepts pupils of all nationalities, with some 50 countries being
represented. Non-native English-speaking children are admitted subject
to a satisfactory standard of English language development.
All overseas contract staff and the majority of local staff, are
UK-trained and qualified. Currently over 85% have been recruited
directly from the UK with the remainder being local employees.
All rooms in the school are air-conditioned. Facilities include
three science laboratories, a CDT room, a FTT room, an art room,
two gymnasiums, two halls, a suite of music rooms, a library, a
25-metre swimming pool, a beginners' pool, a PC laboratory and computer
clusters throughout the school.
The Jeddah Prep & Grammar School, (The International British/Dutch
School) year starts in early September and finishes at the end of
June/beginning of July. There are three terms with the traditional
holidays being observed. However, the working week is from Saturday
to Wednesday, the school being closed on Thursday and Friday. Security
measures are of the highest standard, working in close liaison with
the British Consulate.
Due to the success of recent changes and the resulting increase
in pupil numbers, the school currently has waiting lists in a number
of year groups. Therefore, potential applicants for places are advised
to contact the school as early as possible, preferably before arrival
in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
