The Anglo-American School of Moscow is an independent, not-for-profit
co-educational school that offers an educational programme from
First Steps (3 years) to grade 12 for English-speaking students.
The Anglo-American School of Moscow year extends from late August
to mid-June. The school is governed by a School Board composed of
members from the US, British and Canadian Embassies and other communities.
A thousand students from 55 countries follow an international curriculum
that ensures a solid grounding in the English language, mathematics,
science and social studies. Russian or French, art, music, computer
skills and physical education are also included. The curriculum
for grades 11-12 is based on the International Baccalaureate programme
that provides a broad academic spectrum of studies and develops
interests beyond the normal curriculum. Students completing the
full IB programme typically receive priority placement at universities
and often first-year credit for their higher-level courses. There
are support services for children with mild special educational
needs. The faculty consists of approximately 112 qualified and experienced
teachers, recruited primarily from the United States, the United
Kingdom and Canada. The Anglo-American School of Moscow launched
its second fifty years with the opening in August 2000 of a purpose-build
1,200 student campus that brings together on one site students from
First Steps (3 years) to grade 12. Large attractive classrooms provide
a secure and stimulating environment for learning. The facilities
include an extensive library, eight science laboratories, three
computer/media laboratories, five art rooms, five music rooms, a
black box theatre seating 200, three dining rooms, one equipped
with a stage, two gymnasia that hold three basketball courts, an
aerobics/dance studio, an exercise room, three football (soccer)
pitches, three tennis courts and an asphalt play space where ice
rinks are set up in the winter. The Anglo-American School of Moscowis
accredited by the European Council of International Schools, the
New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the International
Baccalaureate Organization. It is also a member of the National
Association of Independent Schools and the Central and Eastern European
Schools Association.
