Muscat Private School is an Omani co-educational school educating
both Omani and multi-national expatriate students from age 3-18+.
The aim of the school is to develop all its students to their full
academic, intellectual and aesthetic potential. The school is under
the supervision of the Ministry of Education.
From kindergarten upwards the Muscat Private School offers a full
national programme, through the English medium for its Omani and
other Arabic speaking students, up to Thanawiyah 'Amah (General
Secondary); and a British-based programme of education through the
English medium, to expatriate students. In grades 10 and 11 students
on the expatriate programme are prepared to sit for the IGCSE in
up to nine subjects and in grades 12 and 13 for GCE AS and A2 levels.
From September 2005 the Muscat Private School will offer a unified
programme to all students through all subjects, except Arabic and
Islamic. The school aims to have all students sitting the IGCSE
and GCE AS and A2 levels.
The Muscat Private School is a registered centre for both CIE UK
and Edexcel UK. Students may choose from the following subjects:
Arabic, art, biology, business studies, chemistry, computer studies,
English language, English literature, French, geography, history,
mathematics and physics.
Grade 12 and 13 students are offered AS and A2 level courses in
the following, dependent on demand: art, biology, business studies,
chemistry, English literature, French, mathematics and physics.
Muscat Private School offers excellent facilities, including two
buildings with four fully air-conditioned floors each covering approximately
10,000 square metres. More than 50 fully equipped classrooms, two
libraries, physics, chemistry, biology, general science and two
computer labs, metalwork, woodwork, music, art and home economics
rooms are provided, as well as a cafeteria and multi-purpose hall.
To integrate the whole of Muscat Private School into one international
community the school organizes an active extracurricular programme
of trips and activities and fully utilises its 305-seat theatre,
basketball, volleyball, tennis and handball courts, grass football
pitch, sports hall and junior and senior swimming pools.
Students regularly compete in both in-house and inter-school sporting,
academic and cultural events and competitions.
