Founded in 1984, Atlanta International School is a non-profit organization
offering international education to American and international students
living in the Atlanta area.
The primary school programme (four years old through to grade 5)
is a dual language program. All students spend one half of their
time in an English language classroom and the other half in a second
language. There are three language tracks: English-French, English-German,
English-Spanish. The Primary School English-French programme is
accredited by the French Ministry of Education.
The Secondary School programme at Atlanta International School
is academic in nature, with the International Baccalaureate being
the goal. Students also take US college entrance tests.
The Atlanta International School faculty come from 30 different
countries. Each teacher is fully qualified and experienced and shares
the school philosophy of providing the best possible education for
each student, one with intellectual rigor, human understanding and
respect, high international standards and a global perspective.
Approximately 50% of the students are American, with the other
50% representing 70 different countries. About half of the non-American
students are permanent US residents, with the balance being on fixed
term assignments to Atlanta.
Atlanta International School is housed in an historic former public
school in the north Atlanta suburb of Buckhead. The four buildings
on the 14-acre campus have been fully renovated and offer a complete
range of modern educational facilities.
All students at Atlanta International School are required to demonstrate
the ability to deal with the academic programme before being accepted.
There is a financial aid programme, based upon family need.
