FACILITIES
Gulf International School facilities provide:
*
spacious, bright classrooms each with computer access and a class library
*
an auditorium for school functions
*
large play areas
*
a comprehensive school library
*
computer lab for a complete class
As we believe that a pleasant environment is important for students, parents and staff alike, we will have carefully nurtured garden settings for both the interior and the exterior of the school. Benches, shaded areas, misters, a bird watching aviary and the newest of playground equipment will combine to create the best of invitational atmospheres.
At Gulf International School, we are also aware of both traffic congestion and how that affects parents in a hurry, as well as, how important it is to provide the best of security for our students.
For these reasons, when you come to deliver or pick up your children, we are creating access for vehicles to drop off children inside the school compound.
You will receive the best of educational opportunities when you come to Gulf International School!
Curriculum
Curriculum is the driving force behind all teaching. It focuses us and provides continuity across the grades. Gulf International School students require consistent, challenging programs that will capture their interest, stimulate creative thinking and problem solving, develop a co-operative and independent approach to team work, as well as prepare them for a lifetime of learning. They require knowledge and skills that will help them compete and excel in a global economy allowing them to lead lives of integrity and satisfaction both as citizens and as individuals.
Gulf International School follows a curriculum developed by modifying the best of North American styles thus creating challenges and meeting the creative and academic needs of each individual learner.
The Ontario Curriculum provides the base of our studies but additional concepts have been employed from other sources, including the Philadelphia curriculum, to ensure that the best and most appropriate curriculum is provided for our children.
Teachers use Curriculum Expectations and Achievements level charts to ensure the expectations of the appropriate grade level are met. These charts are used in lesson and unit planning for the teacher, and are reflected in the report cards and used as references when discussing progress with the parents.
Do ask the teachers to share the Gulf International School curriculum with you thus you can see what your child is learning and why they are learning it. Parental involvement is always very important to a child's learning.
