Happy Chappies Nursery
INTRODUCTION
Happy Chappies was opened in 2005, in response to parents searching for
a quality nursery, run by qualified teachers, as opposed to non-qualified
care-givers. During our first year, our fledgling classes proved to be
what was intended; a place where children can come to play and learn within
a stimulating, enjoyable and richly educational atmosphere, under the
watchful eye of trained staff. We are officially registered and licenced
by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour & Social Affairs,
and are governed by local health and safety regulations.
CURRICULUM
Happy Chappies has a strong Montessori influence which allows a child
to develop at his/her own pace, with gentle guidance using a wide range
of activities, learning materials, discussion, creative play, singing
and projects on relevant topics of interest to each individual.
We aim to provide a rounded education covering the usual pre-school curriculum
including personal, social and emotional development, communication, language
literacy, mathematical development, knowledge and understanding of the
world, physical and creative development.
STAFF
The Happy Chappies team consists of qualified British, Australian and
South African nursery teachers. Each class has a qualified teacher, supported
by a teaching assistant and a general assistant. Every employee has been
carefully selected for their genuine love of and affinity for children,
and for their warm and caring natures.
FACILITIES
Three exceptionally spacious, bright and sunny classrooms, all of which
are well-equipped and furnished with the very best educational equipment
available from the UK. Each classroom also has a computer to introduce
children to basic IT skills.
Our Jungle Room is an enormous indoor play area with padded floors, and
specific areas dedicated to soft play, imaginative play and physical activity
using our gym equipment.
Our fully equipped, colourful library is the perfect setting to encourage
a child to read. The children will have access to all of the books for
their own reading pleasure, in addition to listening to stories during
our dedicated story times.
Our secure outdoor garden and playground is filled with a colourful array
of cars, houses, slides, a sandpit and much, much more.
An added comfort for parents is that, in addition to having a safe, secure
playground, we also have a security guard on duty daily, from 7.30am -
2.30pm.
SCHOOL YEAR AND SCHOOL DAY

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Our goal is to provide all of the children in our care a safe, clean and
comfortable, loving environment, rich in resources, where they can play
and learn. We believe in the value of both structured and flexible schedules.
Structured actvities are based on the Montessori principals, which cover
developmental activities designed to meet the needs of children in five
curriculum areas;
Practical life skills
Sensory motor activities
Mathematical skills
Language skills
Cultural knowledge
There is an atmosphere of co-operation in the classroom, not competition.
We also draw ideas and experiences from a number of different programmes.
We offer regular story times, arts and crafts, musical activities, learning
about the world around us, taking care of ourselves, animals and our environment,
and much, much more.
The most important priority is for your child to have fun while they learn!
