In September 2004, St. Lawrence College opened its doors on a new
campus in Koropi a very well designed and well equipped school set
in a 16 acre peaceful country environment.
From the modern suite of science laboratories to the library's reading
room, to the 400 seat amphitheatre all the way through to the state
of the art computer labs and all-weather tennis courts, the school
s extensive facilities serve to complement the high academic standing
of the College.
A large and well qualified staff allows a staff-pupil ratio of 1:10.
35% of the teachers have been with the school for over 10 years.
Academic standards are high and examination results very good.
There are 40 extra-curricular activities, clubs and societies to
which pupils may subscribe, of which drama, duet acting, chess and
debating are particularly strong. Sports and games are well catered
for, charity work and community service actively encouraged and
there is a strong system of pastoral support. Full advantage is
taken of Athens cultural amenities.
A Summer School programme for boys and girls aged 4 15 is available.
St Lawrence College is an independent co-educational British school
with nearly 800 students drawn from 56 countries.
The staff are chiefly British - or Commonwealth - trained, experienced,
and with an average length of stay of eight years.
The pupil roll is international with three majority elements -
British, Commonwealth and Commonwealth Greek. Graduates mainly enter
British universities, with American colleges a close second. Australian
and Canadian universities are also popular. The average length of
stay of pupils is six years.
The academic year at St Lawrence College lasts from early September
until mid-June, with two two-week holidays in December and April.
The school day lasts from 08:40 to 15:15. Drama, chess, computers,
swimming, calligraphy, photography, newspaper, debating, environmental
and other extra-curricular activities (37 in total) are offered.
