Beijing City International School will open in August 2005 as an independent, co-educational day school offering an international curriculum for Pre-School to Grade 12 students. For its inaugural year 2005/06, the school will open its Elementary School offering Kindergarten to Grade 6 classes; grade levels for the Upper School will be added in subsequent years.

The Beijing City International School academic year consists of two semesters. The first semester starts in August and ends mid December. The second semester runs from January to June. The two major school holiday periods during the year are the Winter and New Year Holidays, and the Summer Holidays. National holidays in China are also observed.

Classes at Beijing City International School begin at 08:30 and end at 15.00, from Monday through Friday. Students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of Enrichment Activities which start at 15:15 pm and end at 16:15 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Late buses are provided to take students, who have signed up for school bus services, after Enrichment Activities.
