Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS) is operated by Yew
Chung Education Foundation (YCEF) which also has international schools
in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Chongqing, and Silicon Valley USA. Registered
in Hong Kong as an independent, Christian, non-profit, educational
foundation, YCEF celebrated its 70th Anniversary in 2002-2003. Chung
International School of Beijing (YCIS), which opened in 1995, fills
an important educational need as the Beijing region continues its
rapid development.

Yew Chung International School of Beijing is located on the eastern
side of Beijing just off the fourth ring road in an area designated
for international development. The school is located on the beautiful
grounds of Honglingjin Park. A new dining hall, sports hall, and
classroom building have recently been added to create a pleasant,
high tech learning and teaching environment. Also recently completed
was a new library, information technology room, and outdoor play
area with treated playing surface.
The Yew Chung International School of Beijing international curriculum,
used by all YCEF schools in mainland China and Hong Kong uses an
international curriculum based on the National Curriculum for England.
Instruction is conducted in English language. YCIS also offers the
unique YCEF approach to Chinese language and culture for native
and other language speakers. Each primary class has a western and
Chinese teacher. The programme for character building draws on the
best traditions of east and west. An extensive after-school activity
programme is offered.
Students who complete BIS secondary school requirements receive
a secondary school diploma. Those desiring external examinations
may take IGCSE, A Levels or AICE options. Graduates
qualify for university entrance around the world. Students may also
elect to take SAT or TOEFL.
The school year has three terms: August-December, January-March,
and April-June. The school day runs from 08:00 to 15:00. Enrolment
is open to all expatriate nationalities and is based on interview
and school reports.
