Edirne Koleji
Edirne Koleji, opened in September 1998 as a private coeducational
school, and offers a college preparatory program for Turkish children
aged 5 - 18. The Ministry of Education regulates the curriculum and
establishes the calendar which runs from September to June.
The Edirne Koleji faculty is predominantly Turkish with degrees
from Turkish universities. Faculty members have an average of 12
years teaching experience.
In addition to the regular grade levels there is a preparatory
class between grades 8 and 9 for an intensive English instruction
program.
Facilities at Edirne Koleji include 54 classrooms, 750-seat auditorium,
dining hall, gymnasium, swimming pool, Elementary and High School
Libraries, infirmary, two computer rooms, two audio-visual rooms,
three science laboratories and an art room.
The Edirne Koleji school encourages extra-curricular activities
by providing the following programs: music, art, track and field,
basketball, football, volleyball, handball, gymnastics, swimming,
folk dances, yearbook, school magazine, peer tutoring, scouting,
modern dance and chess.
Edirne is a pleasant border town of 150,000 people with many historical
remains. The Meriç river runs through its suburbs. Edirne
is under two hours run from the center of Istanbul.
