Eyüboglu Educational Institution is a group of private, co-educational
schools founded by Dr Rüstem Eyüboglu in 1985. EEI, which
is comprised of two Elementary sections, a Secondary, and a Science
Secondary section, offers a bilingual education to students aged 5-18.
School policy is determined by a board of executive administrators,
working within framework regulations and curriculum requirements set
by the Turkish Ministry of Education. The Middle School is authorized
to offer the IBMYP in grades 6 -10. In the Secondary section, in addition
to the Turkish curriculum, is the option of doing the International
Baccalaureate Program. Furthermore, the IBPYP is being implemented
in Grades K-5; work is in progress towards seeking authorization from
the IBO for this program. There is a strong ESL program in all sections
of Eyüboglu, leading students to, in addition to IB qualifications,
UCLES and TOEFL English proficiency examinations. Starting from Grade
7, German, French, Spanish and Italian are taught as a second foreign
language. Elective subjects offer more intensive and specialized study
in the fields of social sciences, sciences, arts, music, computer
and astronomy. Academic courses are supplemented by a wide variety
of extra-curricular activities in art, music, humanities and drama.
Besides traditional sports, activities, archery, horse riding, fencing,
swimming, bocce, folk dancing, and modern dancing are also offered.
Faculty members at Eyüboglu are all qualified university graduates;
29% of the subject teachers hold postgraduate degrees. Teachers
have all average of ten years of teaching experience. The average
tenure at the school is seven years.
Thc school campus at Eyüboglu, which covers an area of 33,000m²,
is situated on the Asian side of Istanbul. Facilities on the campus
include an Arts and Sports Complex with a swimming pool, various
art studios and sports areas for handball, volleyball, athletics,
basketball, archery, ballet and folk-dancing, a theatre hall seating
480, a small theatre seating 100, a full sized gymnasium, four smaller
multi-purpose PE halls, activity room, four art and ceramics studios,
two libraries with 35,000 volumes, tennis, basketball and handball
courts, a bocce field, and a general playing field. There are four
computer laboratories; all 420 computers on the campus have 24 hour
Internet and BBS access, There are eleven science laboratories.
The two observatories equipped with powerful telescopes enable the
school and wider community to make astronomical observations.
Adimssion to Eyüboglu is offered on the basis of a school-administered
examination for the Elementary section and according to Turkish
Ministry of Education regulations for the Secondary sections. Limited
financial aid is available through the schools scholarship
fund.
