Ugur College is a private co-educational school founded by Y. Kemal
Koçak in 1990. The school offers programmes for kindergarten,
primary and secondary students aged 3-19.
The curriculum model at Ugur College school is national and is
regulated by the Ministry of Education. In addition to the Turkish
curriculum, starting from September 2002 International Baccalaureate
Programme commenced in the secondary section. Beyond the curriculum
standards strong emphasis is placed on responsible citizenship and
international understanding. English is the major foreign language
for reading, writing, listening and speaking through the study of
a wide range of literary and non-literary texts in different styles.
German is taught as a second language. There are also programmes
for KET, PET and TOEFL exams. Students intend to undertake academic
studies at leading universities both in Turkey and abroad.
Extra-curricular activities in art, music, humanities and drama
are offered in addition to the traditional ones such as sport activities,
folk dancing and modern dancing.
Admission to Ugur College is based on a school-based examination
for the elementary sections and according to the regulations of
the Ministry of Education for the secondary section. The school
calendar is set by the Turkish Ministry of Education and runs from
September to June with a semester break in February.
At Ugur College school there are seventy classrooms, four science,
two computer laboratories, three music, three video rooms, a conference
hall, a swimming pool, a fitness centre, a gymnasium, a digital
library and two cafeterias.
