Özel Istanbul Çevre Okullari

Çevre Schools were founded in 1998 by the Eksioglu Educational Institutions Company. The school is located in Erenköy, a central location on the Anatolian side of Istanbul. This location allows the students convenient transportation to school.

Çevre Schools apply the principals of the national curriculum which is supported by extra curricular international and national activities.

The language of instruction at Özel Istanbul Çevre Okullari is Turkish in both kindergarden and primary school. But ESL studies have considerable weight. The number of English lessons ranges from 9 to 24 from kindergarden to grade 9. In high school some of the lessons, physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics are taught in English. There is an English preparatory program in the high school prior to the ninth grade. This program continues throughout the school year to provide the students with English skills.

The primary school instruction system at Özel Istanbul Çevre Okullari is based on Multiple Intelligences Theory by Howard Gardner. In primary school classes such as chess, drama, computer and ceramics are available. Students have a chance to spend time in their areas of interest in the activity hours and clubs. Primary school and high school instruction systems are both supported by scientific curriculum development and measurement and evaluation activities.

Çevre kindergarden instruction is supported by activities of Maria Montessori, Highscope and Carl Orff systems.

The Özel Istanbul Çevre Okullari school is working enthusiastically to create an awareness of environmentalsim for its students. Eco-schools and UNESCO Semep are the two international environmentalist organizations of which the school is a member.

The Özel Istanbul Çevre Okullari school works in cooperation with greenpeace and has started the 'Rainbow Children Club' in which members can follow and understand the activities of Greenpeace. The school is also a member of different leading national environmentalist associations.

The Özel Istanbul Çevre Okullarischool began to work on the total quality management systems in the academic year 2003-2004. School quality understanding is based on excellence model of European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) and standards of 'International Organization for Standardization (ISO)'. The school is also a member of Kalder-Turkish Society for Quality.

Çevre school campus provides different opportunities for the student and staff needs with its half-Olympic size swimming pool, sports hall, fitness and weight-lifting room, sauna, conference hall, arts and crafts workshops, music rooms, library, dining hall and cafeteria, science and mathematics labs, computer rooms etc.
