The school year is divided into three terms, beginning in September, January and April.
Summer School operates in July and August. The school is a member of ISAT, the International Schools Association of Thailand.

Nursery
Hours: 8.30am - 12.00pm

The British School of Bangkok has four Nursery classes, two of which are situated in the comfortable house on the school site, the other two in the main school building. The classrooms are designed and set out to encourage your child to develop and maintain confidence and a sense of self worth. The school is dedicated to providing a challenging, learning environment that is child centered and well balanced. We aim to develop the "whole child" to the fullness of his or her potential. The children are taught respect for others and their individual differences.

The teachers at our school are there to help children acquire basic skills fundamental to his/her continuing education. Emphasis is on teaching in small groups where children are given the individual attention necessary to learn. The school has up to date safe, manipulative and colorful educational toys to stimulate learning.

Curriculum
The day is divided into several activities, all designed to stimulate and develop the child’s interests. Children have the opportunity to join in free play (blocks, puzzles, cars, Lego, etc.), story time, music, craft, cooking, and are given ample time to further develop their oral, creative and academic skills.

The curriculum is based on "Themes" of interest to the young child. These are incorporated into their activities through roll play, craft, games and paper work.

As the child moves from class to class they are introduced to new themes and concepts such as colours, shapes and numbers, my family, people in my neighborhood, planting, water, fire, safety and many more.

The children in the nursery classes have the opportunity to use a seperate TV room, reading room and "Home room" which is filled with clothes for dressing up. It also has a play workbench and play cooker for make believe and roll play. The younger nursery classes use a dedicated outside play area while the older nursery classes use the front play area. On rainy days the children have use of the purpose built gym, giving the children an opportunity to play whatever the weather.

Kindergarten
Hours: 8.30am - 2.00pm

When the children reach kindergarten age they are ready for a longer, more structured day. Children in the kindergarten classes follow the English curriculum in which they are taught the basics of addition and subtraction, reading, writing, pencil control, along with craft and theme work. Numeracy and literary hour is also a featured part of the school curriculum.

We understand the importance of one to one teaching and keeps the class numbers small. This allows the teachers to concentrate on each child giving them the chance to work at their own pace.

Throughout the week the children have the opportunity to participate in additional activities within the school timetable; this includes cooking, science, ballet, music, Thai language, Thai dancing, computer and exercise classes.

The school has a dedicated Language room, Library, science room and a computer room.

The kindergarten classes use the large play areas, with the opportunity to use the gym if the weather is bad. All children are provided with a school hat to wear when outside.

All children are required to take an ESL test to determine their level of English. Additional classes may be required for those children whose English level needs improvement.

Year 1 / Year 2 / Year 3
Hours: 8.30am - 2.30pm

Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 continue with the already established British Academic Curriculum where more emphasis is placed on the academic side of school life. In these classes, the children are encouraged to broaden their knowledge in math, English reading, science, etc., as well as taking a more active part in the extra curricular activities.
