St Stephen's International School SIS, founded in 1998, is a private
co-educational international school, serving the Thai and international
communities. The school is accredited by the Worldwide Education Service
WES from the UK, is licensed by the Thai Ministry of Education and
is an approved candidate for Accreditation with ECIS and NEASC.
The St Stephen's International Schools philosophy is based
on Leadership in the making and is guided by three main
concepts: East Meets West - The Best of Both Worlds, Learning by
Doing, A Disciplined and Healthy Lifestyle.
The curriculum is founded on the English National Curriculum, key
stages and programmes of study, although the most appropriate features
are utilized to suit students needs. Other international and
national curricular are used to provide breadth and an international
approach, including the Thai Curriculum, which also provides the
foundation and structure for the teaching of Thai at all levels
and ensures students may transfer successfully to and from Thai
schools and universities. The high standard of maths and science
teaching in Thailand adds strength to the curriculum. Mandarin is
also taught throughout the school. Culture and cultural awareness,
manners and etiquette are also stressed. It is expected that the
Middle and High School curriculums will eventually lead to the International
General Certificate of Secondary Education IGCSE and the Advanced
International Certificate of Education (AICE).
The faculty at St Stephen's International School are recruited
from many different nationalities including the UK, USA, Canada,
New Zealand, Australia and from within Asia. The Thai Head, as required
by law, supervises directly the Assistant Thai Head, responsible
for the Thai curriculum. Day-to-day operations and school development
are the responsibilities of the School Director, supported by a
Deputy Director who pays particular attention to timetable, school-wide
events and staff duties, and an Assistant Director responsible for
quality assurance, including accreditation. Heads of Section for
Early Years, Elementary and Middle School, together with a Curriculum
Co-ordinator, oversee the quality of teaching and learning. A Co-curricular
Co-Ordinator oversees extensive wide-ranging activities, including
school community projects and inter-school links.
St Stephen's International School's campus includes 26 classrooms,
two music rooms, drama room, computer room, information center,
playing fields, multi-purpose hall, pavilion and catering facilities.
Admissions are based on a school-based assessment and interview
conducted over half a day, school reports and the level of English
ability.
