From September 2003 Emirates National School will enroll secondary
school age students (both boys and girls), and eventually will offer
a complete university prep program of study. The aim of the school
is to prepare students for admission and success at the best univerisities
in the world. ENS, Emirates National School is a day school, and it is anticipated
that most of the students will come from the Abu Dhabi area. The
school is located within the Municipality of Abu Dhabi. The brand new, purpose built school was designed to reflect traditional
Arab and Islamic architecture, but also incorporates a 'state of
the art' information and communication technology infrastructure.
The sponsor for the school is the Office of His Highness the President,
United Arab Emirates. The Emirates National School is located on the mainland close to
Abu Dhabi Island. It is in an area where a significant park is being
developed. The general area around it is designated as residential.
The Emirates National School is an international school for UAE
national students, and will mainly enrol nationals of the United
Arab Emirates, but it will have a specifically international curriculum
and ethos. The curriculum is based on the International Primary Curriculum,
but also includes high quality programs in Mathematics (Singapore
Mathematics), Arabic and Islamic Studies, and a specifically targeted
English language program with an English as Additional Language
emphasis. All instruction, apart from Arabic and Religion is in
English. English is the general language for administration and
              for student recreation. |
